No Nonsense

Do you struggle with something that you feel no one sees? Does it feel like your problems are viewed by others as a punch line? Spoken Word at Converge Gallery wants you to know that you are not alone. Born out of a conversation between Spoken Word’s host and mc Tristan Lee and regular contributor Brian Spies about what it is like to struggle everyday with problems that too often are reflected in the media as something to be ridiculed, No Nonsense: A Spoken Word Event will provide a platform for empowerment and encouragement for those that struggle with something that they feel isolates them. It will be an opportunity for those that feel alone in their struggle as well as for those in our community that love and support them and realize that, despite that they might feel alone, we are in this together! We invite you to come on Friday, December the 11th and share your story or even just your talent so that you can realize that you’re not alone after all. Signups begin at 6:30 pm with the event starting at 7, all are welcome.

About Spoken Word

Spoken Word has a simple setup: During the first half hour our featured artist will speak. We, then, open the floor to whom ever would like to share. We ask those interested in reading to please keep it under 5 minutes. All are welcome even if you just want to listen rather than participate.

For No Nonsense, we’ll be taking pre-orders for a special, limited edition commemorative t-shirt. Local designer, Matthew Young crafted the iconic design. T-shirts will be available in a variety of sizes, colors and styles and start at just $15.

Converge Gallery has been hosting Spoken Word for the past four years. It’s a great way for the literary talents of Williamsport and the surrounding areas to have a chance in the spotlight. Come share your talents!

About Converge Gallery

Converge Gallery was founded in 2011. The gallery, already internationally recognized for its ambitious program, has been extremely selective and focused on both emerging and notable mid-career artists with an increasingly more conceptual direction oriented to display the most challenging and innovative art.

What we are trying to do, without any pretense to define art, is to elevate the discussion about art, reality and perception. Converge Gallery’s goal is to sell the meaning and cultural context of an artwork along with the individual point of view of the artist that, encouraged to aim for a certain level of aesthetic value, clarity of content and vision is also required, as well as the ideal collector, to have an extensive knowledge about the intricate dynamics of contemporary art.

The greatest achievement for us would be to extend the boundaries of art beyond art itself and generate a dialectic exchange between artist and general public by interacting with the other disciplines with the objective to determine a wider understanding of what is happening here and now.

The gallery is located at 140 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA and gallery hours are Tuesday thru Saturday from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.
