SPOKEN WORD Season 7 kicks off next month with special guest Kevin Clark on Friday, October 13th! Clark will start off the event with work from a soon to be published volume that centers on the role of place in our lives and features prominently the landscape of central and northeastern Pennsylvania. After our featured artist, we invite other local poets, lyricists, comedians and whoever else is in attendance to speak. Sign-ups start at 6:30 PM and the event runs from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Admission is just $3.
Spoken Word has a simple setup: we turn on the mic and ask those interested in reading poetry, prose, free style verse, dramatic readings, stand up comedy and more keep it under 5 minutes. All are welcome even if you just want to listen rather than participate.
Converge Gallery has been hosting Spoken Word for the past six years. It’s a great way for the literary talents of Williamsport and the surrounding areas to have a chance in the spotlight. Come share your talents!
About The Artist:
Kevin Clark is a Wellsboro-based poet and writer, retired from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, where he taught writing at Penn College, Penn State Greater Allegheny Campus, Edinboro, Clarion and Bloomsburg Universities, as well as Juniata and Elmira Colleges. Clark is a published poet in a variety of literary journals and the founder of the Stillwater Poetry Festival in Stillwater, PA. He holds three degrees, a B.A. in Communication from Slippery Rock University; a Master’s in English from Bucknell University; and an M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Pittsburgh. He has lived and worked as a Journalist on Guam and in Fairbanks, Alaska. He pays rent to two cats who begrudgingly allow him to share their space.

CONVERGE GALLERY is a gallery exhibition space focused on contemporary artwork created by emerging or notable mid-career artists. Our mission is to make challenging and innovative artwork accessible for those in Central Pennsylvania and generate discussions between artists and the general public.
