spoken word
Spoken Word is back (sorta) and before we kick off the official launch of Season 6, we’ll be hosting a mini preview night on Friday September the 9th featuring local poet Michael Zielinskie. Sign-ups start at 6:30 PM and the event runs from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Admission is just $3.

Michael Zielinskie’s writing delves into the dark and the mystical with a light splash of insightful humor. He acquired his creative voice while attending Bloomsburg University for his BA in Studio Art. He was just recently accepted back to Bloomsburg University for his Masters in Science in Instructional Technology.

Michael will be reading a collection of short stories and fables at the Spoken Word event on March 11th. The stories range on topics from why evergreen trees have needles to the early origins of our planet.

Spoken Word has a simple setup: we turn on the mic and ask those interested in reading poetry, prose, free style verse, dramatic readings, stand up comedy and more keep it under 5 minutes. All are welcome even if you just want to listen rather than participate.

Converge Gallery has been hosting Spoken Word for the past five years. It’s a great way for the literary talents of Williamsport and the surrounding areas to have a chance in the spotlight. Come share your talents!

About Converge Gallery

Converge Gallery was founded in 2011. The gallery, already internationally recognized for its ambitious program, has been extremely selective and focused on both emerging and notable mid-career artists with an increasingly more conceptual direction oriented to display the most challenging and innovative art.

What we are trying to do, without any pretense to define art, is to elevate the discussion about art, reality and perception. Converge Gallery’s goal is to sell the meaning and cultural context of an artwork along with the individual point of view of the artist that, encouraged to aim for a certain level of aesthetic value, clarity of content and vision is also required, as well as the ideal collector, to have an extensive knowledge about the intricate dynamics of contemporary art.

The greatest achievement for us would be to extend the boundaries of art beyond art itself and generate a dialectic exchange between artist and general public by interacting with the other disciplines with the objective to determine a wider understanding of what is happening here and now.

The gallery is located at 140 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA and gallery hours are Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 11:00am – 6:00pm.
